　　No.1 Middle School of Shimen (abbr.SMYZ) lies in the northwest of Hunan Province.It is an hour’s tour from the scenery spot Zhang Jia jie and next to the old city of cultural interest FengHuang . There is the primeval forest district HuPing Mountain and JiaShan Temple, a place famous for its historical story about Li Zicheng---the leader of the peasant uprising at the end of Ming Dynasty. Our school is in the suburb of Shi Men, with a quiet and elegant environment .However,it is very convenient to live here.There are 3 supermarkets around. The taxi fee is incredibly cheap--just 3 yuan for 3 miles,and there are 3 train stations to go everywhere in China.

　　Shimen is an ancient county with a long history. The people are simple, honest and unspoiled. Hardworking, and with great hospitality, the Shimen people have achieved enormous success in the economic field. Shimen is a tourist city. What makes the local most proud is that the highest mountain ---Huping Mountain stands in its northwest. Many beautiful scenic spots have drawn thousands of travelers, who are so indulged in the beauty of the scenery that they even forget home. Apart from this, our government holds The Orange Festival annually ,which makes Shimen enjoy a better reputation in China.

　　All the teaching buildings and teaching facilities in SMYZ are well equipped according to the standards of the first-class schools in China . At present, the school is well supplied with a complete series of modern teaching facilities such as advanced and practical digital local area network, high standard computer-rooms, language labs, multi-media teaching classrooms and other media rooms for different subjects and laboratories. Our school has everything that one expects to find: multi-functional library, science building and 400-metre running track. The Faculty of the School

　　The teachers in SMYZ are all experienced and vigorous. For the time being, there are 336 full-time teachers. They all have a qualified educational background. Ninety-six per cent of them have at least an undergraduate educational background and 198 of them have obtained a middle rank or high rank title of the technical field. These teachers have surpassed and been selected out of over 4000 applicants and thus became the forerunners of the school. They all bear a firm mind in the profession, with substantial teaching skills and exceeding educational ideas. They not only serve as honored teachers and good friends, but as parents and elder siblings as well. They care about the students' upbringing with great tenderness. With their guidance, the students roam about the sea of knowledge freely.
